WATER SOFTENER

The hardness of the water is due exclusively to the calcium and magnesium it contains. These two elements are essential for the human body.

European and domestic legislation does not provide for a maximum limit for these items. Nevertheless, in high concentrations (water characterized as hard) they create problems of scale deposits in water heating devices (e.g. washing machine, water heater) and in networks of external pipes.

Improving the quality of hard water can be done in the following two ways:
1. Ion exchange type softeners
This type of softener removes calcium and magnesium from water and replaces it with sodium. Their main advantage is that they cover all cases of water softening, regardless of how it is used.

2. Electromagnetic Field Anti-Scale Devices
These devices apply a strong electromagnetic field to the water passing through the pipe, thereby preventing calcium and magnesium from forming sediments and deposits. A key advantage is that they do not affect the chemical composition of the water (e.g. a hard water remains hard without leaving salts in the water heater) and have low initial installation and operating costs.

Some of the leading softener manufacturers in the world, such as General Electric and COMAP supply their products to SEFHANIS, where specially trained staff can recommend the right product for every occasion.
